Isabel Campoy , to our campus next week as the next speaker in the UA SLIS Research Colloquia Series on Thursday, March 29, 2012 from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm. Dr. Ada is an award-winning author of children’s books and Pro­fes­sor Emerita at the Uni­ver­sity of San Fran­cisco and Ms. Campoy is an international children’s author and lecturer. They will giving a public research presentation during their visit to the University of Alabama National Latino Children’s Literature Conference.

  More Than One Voice: Authors in the Classroom, a Transformative Education Process
  In their book Authors in the Classroom, Ada and Campoy explore the concepts of voice and identity through authentic writing as a means to bridge the gap between the cultures of home and school. This colloquium centers on the role of educators as authors, their leadership responsibility in the educational community of their classes, and the various strategies that they can implement to make authorship an important key in the curriculum. They will also discuss various research projects in the area of children’s literature and literacy.
