New Residency Models for Public Libraries: Focus Group Discussions

If you’re attending the Public Library Association Conference, set aside some time on Thursday, March 15, to participate in a focus group session about post-MLIS residencies in public libraries.

Leaders from the San Jose State University School of Library and Information Science, along with national partners, are developing a replicable post-MLIS residency model aimed at expanding the leadership capacity of new professionals, who can effect transformative change. The model will be tested in the context of emerging technology integration in diverse types of libraries. The research team is currently gathering input from library leaders and invites you to join the conversation.

Dr. Sandra Hirsh, director of the San Jose State University School of Library and Information Science, will discuss the Catalyst project and share findings and insights to date. Help shape this residency program model, and share your experiences, ideas, and exemplary practices. All PLA attendees are invited to participate.
