--- Looking for a new leadership opportunity?  Become an FYS 101 Peer Mentor. Earn course credit while supporting first year students in the transition to college by serving as their direct contact and role model. All who are interested are welcome to attend a Peer Mentor information session on Monday, Feb. 6 and Tuesday, Feb. 7 from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in UC room 225. --- Novelist/screenwriter Sabina Murray will read at Writers in the Library at 7:00 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6, in the Hodges Library Auditorium. Her latest collection of short stories, "Tales of the World," reimagines moments in the lives of explorers from Australian Aborigines to Aztec kings. Murray currently directs and teaches in the Creative Writing Program at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. More information is available at www.lib.utk.edu/writersinthelibrary/.

--- Collegiate Entrepreneurs meeting, 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, in room 113 of the Haslam Business Building. Speaker: Brian Krumm, a UT Law graduate and professor of business law at UT. Krumm previously worked for the Tennessee Valley Authority and the Tennessee State Government, in addition to his work as a lawyer consulting small and medium sized companies. --- Summer Job & Internship Fair, 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, in the UC Ballroom. If you are looking for summer job and/or internship, this is the perfect venue. Keep in mind that internships are available are also year-round, not just during the summer. --- American Marketing Association student chapter meeting, 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, in Haslam room 102. This meeting will feature special guest speaker Will Overstreet, who played on UT's 1998 National Championship team and later for the Atlanta Falcons. He is the founder and CEO of Voices Heard Media. --- UT's Clifton M. Jones Student Leadership Conference will be held on Saturday, March 31, 2012, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the UC. This year students will be able to learn how to lead with integrity, authenticity, confidence, purpose, or any other particular skill, context or attribute for which you have a passion. This year's conference will feature keynote speaker Doc Hendley, founder of Wine to Water, 2009 CNN Hero, and author of Wine to Water: A Bartender's Quest to Bring Clean Water to the World. The conference is free and a t-shirt, lunch, and conference materials will be provided to all conference participants. Dress is business casual. The conference is limited to the first 400 students who register so be sure to sign up soon at http://sold.utk.edu/conference/.

--- Come support Dance Marathon and help raise money for East Tennessee Children's Hospital by participating in the 5k Love Run, noon Saturday, Feb. 18 in Circle Park. --- Want to join be a part of campus traditions? Considering applying for All Campus Events (ACE), which coordinates campus-wide events that have becoming long-standing UT traditions, including Vol Challenge, Homecoming, All-Sing and Carnicus. --- Dance Marathon is the largest student-run philanthropy in the country. At UT, we are partners with East Tennessee Children's Hospital. This year we will hold our annual event on Friday, March 2. We will stay up all night and dance the night away in honor of the children with cancer and other blood-related diseases. Important Deadlines

--- Are you interested in politics and the legislative system? Would you like to spend six weeks of your summer in Washington D.C.? Are you interested in interning for a U.S. congressman? If you answered yes to these questions, then you should apply for the Congressional Internship Program sponsored by the Office of the Chancellor and the Office of Student Life. The application period ends on Sunday, Feb. 12, so submit your application as soon as possible. Ready for the World Events

--- This is French Week at the International House. Events include:

- Screening of the film "La vie en rose," in French with English subtitles, 6:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6, in the I-House Great Room. Free snacks will be provided. Free and open to the public.

- French Coffee House, 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, in the I-House Great Room. Learn how to make delicious French crepes, thin and delicate pancakes that can be filled with virtually anything. Free and open to the public.

- French Culture Night, 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, in the I-House Great Room. Learn more about France and enjoy delicious French cuisine, live musical performances, a "can-can" dance demonstration, cultural presentations, and much more. Tickets are $5 at the I-House front desk but may sell out soon, so get yours "tout de suite!"
