The College of Communications and Information Studies, University of Kentucky, is pleased to announce the availability of its Joint Health Information/Communication Degree Program. In 57 credit hours, students earn both a master’s in Library Science and a master’s in Communication with an emphasis on health. Students complete 9 required courses that include Information in Society; Information Seeking, Retrieval and Services; Information Representation and Access; Management in Library and Information Science; an advanced technology elective; Communication Theory; Communication Research Methods; Statistics; and either Interpersonal Communication or Mass Communication. In addition, students complete 7 electives in a health concentration that include Introduction to Medical Informatics, Health Information Resources and Services, Consumer Health Information Resources, Electronic Information Resources in the Health Sciences, Health Communication, Health Communication Campaigns, and Health Related Organization Communication. Studenst work with their advisor to select additional electives based on individual areas of interest.
