2012 SILS Florence Summer Program in partnership with Studio Art Centers International (SACI)

May 21-June 22, 2012 (Summer Session I)

Students will have the opportunity to study with leading Italian conservators and museum information specialists and enjoy SACI’s beautiful facilities housed in two 18th century Palazzo’s in the center of Florence with studios for conservation work, gardens, cyber cafe and Library.  The program features visits to the great Florentine museums and libraries, as well as day and weekend trips to nearby cities such as Lucca, Siena and Bologna.

 

This is a 6-credit - two 3-credit course - program:

LIS 697: Florentine Art & Culture, Museum & Library Research Documentation

LIS 697: Cultural Heritage Conservation

Both courses are taught by SACI Italian instructors

 

Florence program costs:

Tuition:  $6,450.00 (2 3-credit courses at the regular SILS tuition rate)

Study abroad fee:  $450.00

Application and program fee for non-Pratt students:  $100.00

SACI program deposit:  $450.00 (refunded at end of program)

SACI housing:  $1,750.00 (optional – students may arrange housing independently)

Students are responsible for making their own travel arrangements to and from Florence.

2012 SILS London Summer E-Publishing Program in partnership with University College London (UCL)

June 25-July 6, 2012 (Summer Session II)

The London course is taught by the faculty of UCL’s Department of Information Studies. This provides students with the special opportunity to study with recognized leaders in information science research and in e-publishing.  Students will take day trips to Cambridge, Oxford, the British Library and various London publishers.  The program also includes the 6th Bloomsbury Conference (June 28-29, 2012).  This year's conference theme is Scholarly Research & Outcomes and will bring together leaders in publishing, academic libraries and distinguished LIS faculty.  For more information, go to:  http://www.ucl.ac.uk/dis/conferences/2012

 

London program costs:

Tuition:  $3,225.00 (1 3-credit course at the regular SILS tuition rate)

Study abroad fee:  $200.00

Application and program fee for non-Pratt students:  $100.00

UCL-Astor College housing:  $633.00 (optional – students may arrange housing independently)
