TITLE: Associate Dean/Director of Palmer School of Library and Information Sciences, College of Education and Information Sciences, Long Island University

CAMPUS: C.W. Post

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Contribute to the vision of the College of Education and Information Sciences in the area of information sciences.

Provide leadership in program planning and development.
Review departmental course schedules and make recommendations to the Dean for final class schedules.
Employ, train, and supervise office staff in executing daily professional duties.
Promote the effective use of technology within library science and information studies programs.
Evaluate program activities for alignment with program goals.
Provide leadership in outcomes assessment activities and accreditation activities.
Coordinate course development projects that occasionally involve external partners.
Participate in planning, budgeting and policy development processes as well as approving purchase orders and expenses.
Assist in maintaining a marketing presence including the development of brochures, publications, and advertising strategies.
Assist in the development and implementation of grants.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Doctoral degree in library and information sciences or a related area.
Outstanding ability to work well with people including students, colleagues, and other educational stakeholders.
Experience with graduate education.
Record of successful administrative positions.
Familiarity and experience with graduate programs educating information professionals.
Experience with assessment and accreditation.

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

SALARY: Negotiable
