*TITLE:*   Associate Dean/Director of Palmer School of Library and
Information Sciences, College of Education and Information Sciences, Long
Island University

*CAMPUS*: C.W. Post

*POSITION DESCRIPTION:*

Contribute to the vision of the College of Education and Information
Sciences in the area of information sciences.

   - Provide leadership in program planning and development.
   - Review departmental course schedules and make recommendations to the
   Dean for final class schedules.
   - Employ, train, and supervise office staff in executing daily
   professional duties.
   - Promote the effective use of technology within library science and
   information studies programs.
   - Evaluate program activities for alignment with program goals.
   - Provide leadership in outcomes assessment activities and accreditation
   activities.
   - Coordinate course development projects that occasionally involve
   external partners.
   - Participate in planning, budgeting and policy development processes as
   well as approving purchase orders and expenses.
   - Assist in maintaining a marketing presence including the development
   of brochures, publications, and advertising strategies.
   - Assist in the development and implementation of grants.

 *QUALIFICATIONS:*

   -  Doctoral degree in library and information sciences or a related area.
   - Outstanding ability to work well with people including students,
   colleagues, and other educational stakeholders.
   - Experience with graduate education.
   - Record of successful administrative positions.
   - Familiarity and experience with graduate programs educating
   information professionals.
   - Experience with assessment and accreditation.
