Hi Susan, I had a question about an old 4H position. Gordon Shear, 4H in Clinton. Would that position be considered a new position or old position? It has not been funded since he left but the co is ready to fund it again.

Ann, we haven’t implemented anything like this yet.

Have any of you begun moving 12-month faculty to 9, 10, or 11 month appointments?  If so, can you send me a copy of any “plan” you used?  Particular questions we’re trying to answer are ----

·         Number of months faculty were reduced to.  Do all take off the same months?  If not, how are the months determined?

·         Did you use the standard salary reduction formula or did they get a salary advantage by moving and/or the opportunity to make up the salary for the other months with grant or other similar funds?

·         Were the moves voluntary or involuntary --- and does your system allow these changes to be done on an involuntary basis?

·         Did you do this for faculty in the federal (we only have CSRS) retirement system – our understanding has always been that these individuals have to stay on 12-month appointments.

·         Was this done for all faculty, or just certain groups.  If only for certain groups, what was the rationale?

Thanks in advance for any information you can provide.  Hope you are all well.
