Clinical Informatics Librarian, Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, PA

Primary Duties:

The Clinical Informatics Librarian builds dynamic, collaborative relationships within the Jefferson University Physicians (JUP) and Thomas Jefferson University Hospital (TJUH) clinical environments by providing a variety of specialized information services and individual consultations and by participating as a member of research- and knowledge-management-related project teams.  As a member of the Information Services team, he/she will participate in evaluating, planning, and developing clinical support services.  Additionally, the Clinical Informatics Librarian will be involved in supporting the information needs of TJU faculty, researchers and students.

Cultivate relationships within JUP and TJUH clinical environment to identify opportunities for AISR partnerships in information literacy, information management and education.   Provide consulting services that require a high level of knowledge on the effective use of information resources, search engines and information management software.
Attend clinical research committee meetings, clinical rounds, leadership and management meetings, journal clubs, seminars, case-conferences and other appropriate clinical forums, contributing expertise in advanced information and knowledge management practices.  Research, analyze and deliver recommendations and reports in support of group objectives.
In response to complex clinical queries search biomedical literature and filter and synthesize the retrieved results to specific and focused outcomes.  Proactively forward relevant information to clinical clients in anticipation of needs.
Collaborate with AISR staff, clinicians, researchers, and technical staff to develop strategies and tools in support of the Hospital's patient care mission.  Explore, trial and recommend databases, datasets and informatics programs to manage, store and ensure access to clinical research information.
Provide information services to TJU faculty, students in a consultative role as a public services librarian.

Teach library, information literacy or other specialized classes in cooperation with the Education department.  Participate in conducting new student and human resources orientation sessions.
Participate in library staff training in the effective use of knowledge-based resources.
Participate in a variety of professional activities, such as active participation in professional organizations and publishing.

Requirements and Qualifications:

Master of Science/Information Science, ALA-Accredited MLS
Clinical Degree strongly preferred
Five to eight years experience in a healthcare or biomedical environment
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to work well with people and different technologies
Ability to interpret clinical literature
Facility with technical writing
