Instruction/Reference Librarian Presbyterian College Clinton, South Carolina Full-time administrative exempt position of 37.5 hours per week Responsibilities include: • Instruct students and faculty in use of library systems and resources through informal tutorials and formal classes. • Offer one-to-one assistance to patrons in making effective use of the Library’s resources and services. • Provide specific information or resources to library patrons as appropriate. • Confer with faculty regarding library support for course assignments, including collaborative development of course-specific research guides. • Share responsibility for collection management of reference materials and other areas as assigned in electronic as well as traditional formats, including selection and culling of resources. • Assist with developing and maintaining the Library’s web pages. Requirements: • ALA accredited MLS or equivalent; • good judgment as well as the ability to listen carefully and critically to interpret and understand the patron’s needs; • excellent oral and written communication skills; • strong commitment to public service and teamwork; • initiative and flexibility to respond to a demanding and rapidly changing environment; • ability to handle multiple tasks and yet focus on a single task at a given time. Preferred: • a liberal arts background; • one year or more of directly related experience. Starting date for the position is July 1, 2012.
