SLIS HAS MOVED BACK TO MARIST!

As you may have heard, SLIS temporarily moved from Marist Hall to Aquinas Hall for the fall 2011 semester, but we are back in Marist for 2012! Our office and room numbers have remained the same, so please stop by and visit us!

SLIS INFORMATION SESSIONS - Interested in enrolling in SLIS? Feel free to attend one of our upcoming information sessions this winter. There will be an online information session on Jan. 31st at 12pm. We will also be holding an information session at Library of Congress on Feb. 13th at 12pm in room 100 of the Adams Building. SLIS ANNOUNCEMENTS

SLIS PROFESSOR RECOGNIZED  FOR LEADERSHIP - Dr. Renate Chancellor, clinical assistant professor in The Catholic University of America's School of Library and Information Science, has been awarded the 2012 Association for Library and Information Science Education (ALISE)/Norman Horrocks Leadership Award. The annual award is given to an ALISE member who has demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities in association activities. Chancellor, who leads CUA's Law Librarianship Program, will receive the award during the ALISE Awards Reception, which will be held in Dallas on Jan. 19.

VISIONS OF ITALY - SLIS will be offering a study abroad program in summer 2012 to Rome and Florence, Italy from May 26 - June 9, 2012. Students in the course will learn, professionals in Italian museums, libraries, and archives have fantastic cultural materials to work with. This program is open to both CUA and non-CUA participants. The application deadline has been extended to January 27, 2012.

ONLINE WEEKEND LEARNING (OWL) - SLIS launched this new program in Fall 2011 and is recruiting students for the summer and fall 2012 semesters. OWL blends four face-to-face Saturday class meetings with online learning.

SCHOOL OWL  - SLIS will also begin offering the OWL program for students interested in the School Library Media track, called School OWL.

HEALTH INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (HIT) - SLIS is recruiting new students for the Master of Science in Information Technology, with a concentration in Health Information Technology program. Students may begin their study in fall 2012. Scholarships will be provided to qualified students.
