Library and Information Science

Required Qualifications: Ph.D. or equivalent degree in an appropriate field; A.B.D. candidates may apply but must have Ph.D. by July 2012; Master's or equivalent degree from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited program or international equivalent; potential for excellence in research and publishing. Additional Qualifications Desired: Preference will be given to applicants who have experience teaching online courses; demonstrated ability to teach effectively.  Responsibilities: The successful candidate will have responsibilities for teaching two courses each semester in online and/or face-to-face formats, advising students, maintaining a personal research and publication agenda, participation in professional activities, and serving on university committees. The position includes an option for summer teaching and provides funding for research support and conference travel.  The successful candidate will teach three or more of the following courses: Introduction to School and Library Media; Introduction to Public Libraries; Media and Services for Young Adults; Media and Services for Young Adolescents; Resources for the Humanities; Resources for the Social Sciences; Cooperatives, Consortia and Networks; Information Technology and Public Policy.  This position will begin August 2012.  An offer of employment is contingent on a satisfactory pre-employment background check. Application deadline is March 1, 2012 or until a candidate is selected.
