Fresno Pacific University seeks a director of the Hiebert Library to serve a growing student body (currently 3700) and faculty (100+ regular faculty members plus adjuncts) in traditional undergraduate, adult degree completion, graduate and seminary programs on a main campus, four regional centers and online. The university has both regional (WASC) and specialized accreditations, and houses the largest theological collection in Central California. The director must be innovative in developing the technological resources and processes of the library, in developing services to a diverse, growing, and distributed student body and faculty, and in strategic planning for future growth and service to students and faculty. The director is a member of the faculty, and should have active academic interests, intellectual curiosity and a desire to foster the use of the library as an active academic and student life center of the main campus and university as a whole. The library has a state-of-the-art cataloging, circulation and search platform consistent with similar libraries in the region. The director reports to the provost, and serves on the Academic Cabinet and other academic and administrative committees.

Responsibilities:

Manage the financial activities of the Hiebert Library, including development and monitoring of its annual operating budgets and procurement functions;
Hire, mentor and evaluate full-time staff (currently including 4 professional librarians);
Carry out long-range planning for library collection, technological and physical needs of library;
Design, market, deliver, manage and assess the library services, including technology, cataloging, circulation, and reference procedures for traditional materials, music library, media library and electronic resources;
Ensure sufficiency of the collection for the research needs of students and faculty;
Oversee library acquisitions, including gift donations, and work with faculty in soliciting and selecting new acquisitions;
Serve as a liaison to each academic program, giving special attention to the theological collection, and non-traditional and distance learning students;
Promote the library as an academic and student life service center;
Serve online and regional center students and faculty.
