Title: Clinical Reference Librarian

 

Pay Rate: $33,580 - $40,890

 

Job Summary/Basic Function: Responsible to the Assistant Director, Learning Resources, for performing duties associated with providing consumer health information to the general public, developing and implementing training classes for the College of Medicine faculty, staff and students and performing mediated searches for physicians in an effort to enable them to provide better patient care; assisting ETSU College of Medicine residents in the care of patients by finding the best evidence information at the point of care including attending morning meetings with resident physicians on a weekly basis in an effort to find answers for clinical questions related to patient care, therefore, resulting in conducting extensive studies and searching complex databases; assisting the library's outreach program by traveling to outreach sites; maintaining and developing the content and evolution of the library's portal web page including answering questions and troubleshooting problems; maintaining the reference section within the library; coordinating library tours and orientation; writing grants in an effort to expand services; conducting activities to encourage library patronage and developing materials reflecting the services and resources of the library; and performing other related duties as assigned.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of medical reference works and reference practice; Knowledge of library circulation and interlibrary loan operations; Knowledge of major health science information databases and resources; Knowledge of computers and various software packages; Knowledge of library policies and procedures; Knowledge of consumer health information; Knowledge of grant writing policies and procedures; Ability to research publications and make presentations; Ability to work as part of a team; Ability to communicate effectively.

 

Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in library science from ALA accredited school; experience working in a medical library; willingness to pursue AHIP credentials; excellent people skills; willingness to work in a team environment

 

Preferred Qualifications: experience with providing consumer health information to the general public; experience developing and implementing training classes; experience performing mediated searches; clinical librarian experience; experience in library outreach; experience maintaining and developing the content of library web page; experience writing grants; marketing experience
