MLIS – August 2011 Open House Events

SJSU SLIS Hosts Luncheon at ALISE

 

All part-time and adjunct faculty who plan to attend the ALISE conference in Dallas are invited to gather for a lunchtime discussion on Thursday, January 19, 2012. Enjoy lunch with your colleagues and discuss issues relevant to part-time instructors.

 

Hosted by the San Jose State University School of Library and Information Science, participants will have the opportunity to explore the following topics:

 

·         Fostering an interactive learning community for your students

·         Facilitating student discussions that prompt critical thinking and reflection

·         Designing and assessing effective group projects

·         Creating authentic assignments (relevant assignments that are applicable in the "real world")

·         Increasing student motivation

·         Implementing time management and workload strategies for faculty
