The University of Tennessee-Knoxville College of Social Work Office of Research and Public Service (SWORPS) offers online
training for Tennessee state agencies
SWORPS and the Tennessee Department of Human Services (TDHS) are piloting a new learning management system designed and developed
by SWORPS. The first course released in the system is
Civil Rights Law training, which contains four video components with integrated online assessments. SWORPS was involved in each step of the training development process including writing scripts, creating graphics, preparing test questions and tests, as
well as hosting the system on its server cluster. During the first month of deployment nearly 5,000 DHS employees completed the training.
Online training is not new for SWORPS. The publications and media technology unit developed a training for mandatory reporters
on the subject of Child Abuse Reporting several years ago. Since its release over 100,000 users have visited this training website.
