Freel Library seeks a creative and versatile Digital Services Librarian to integrate electronic library resources and digitally based user services into the learning and teaching environments of MCLA. The person in this position develops and coordinates library technology-based operations, services and projects; uses traditional emerging technologies to enable the library to deliver innovative and student-focused access, reference and instruction services; provides leadership of technical services; and participates in the library’s reference and instruction programs. Responsibilities include overseeing the administration of ILS functions in a consortial environment (C/W MARS); maintaining and coordinating the library website and other digital projects in collaboration with the Public Services and other librarians; and improving and expanding user access to digital resources and services, including e-reserves, e-books, e-journals, subscription databases, web resources, archival collections and instructional materials. The Digital Services Librarian oversees cataloging and ensures access to and maintenance of records or links to electronic resources, performs original, complex cataloging as needed; manages upgrades and troubleshoots technology problems with Computer Services; assists in providing direct reference and instruction services; and collaborates with librarians and other departments on library and college projects. This is a full-time MSCA/MTA tenure-track position at the Assistant Librarian or Library Associate level, depending on applicant experience.

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants should hold a Master’s degree in library science from an ALA-accredited library and information studies program; emphasis on technology or electronic information services preferred; minimum two years full-time experience as a librarian and demonstrated professional competence in an academic or research library; experience with integrated library systems, link resolvers, remote authentication; familiarity with learning management systems; knowledge of cataloging and user access needs in a digital environment, including OCLC Connexion and metadata standards and structures (e.g., MARC, RD, Dublin Core); computer literacy; excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment.
