The University of Alabama School of Library and Information Studies welcomes Joseph Dane<http://dornsife.usc.edu/cf/faculty-and-staff/faculty.cfm?pid=1003192>, Professor of English, University of Southern California, to our campus on Tuesday 11/29 and Wednesday 11/30 as the next speaker in the UA SLIS Research Colloquia Series<http://blogs.slis.ua.edu/uaslis-researchcolloquiaseries/>.

Dr. Dane will be giving a research presentation and convening a workshop during his visit:

Tuesday, November 29, 4:00pm - 5:30pm CDT in Gorgas Library Room 205 (please note that this is a room change from previous colloquia this semester)
Professor Dane will be reading from his  memoir Dogfish Memory and selections from his upcoming publication What is a Book?

Dr. Dane's research presentation on 11/29 is open to the public in person in Gorgas Library Room 205 and will also available live online by way of Wimba. (Please see linked information above for instructions on accessing Dr. Dane's live presentation via Wimba.) Dr. Dane's workshop on Wednesday is open to the public in person, but will not be available via Wimba.
Dr. Dane's visit to The University of Alabama School of Library and Information Studies is funded in part by an IMLS Laura Bush 21st Century Librarian Program Grant<http://test.imls.gov/news/2011/062111a_list.shtm#AL> that is facilitating a one-year planning process at SLIS for the development of a dual master's degree in Library and Information Studies (MLIS) and Book Arts (MFA). Additional funding provided by the Library School Association of The University of Alabama.
