Erica Findley named ALCTS 2012 Emerging Leader

 

CHICAGO - Erica Findley, digital resources/metadata librarian at Pacific University in Forest Grove, Ore., has been selected as the ALCTS-sponsored Emerging Leader for 2012.  The Association for Library Collections & Technical Services, ALCTS, sponsors one Emerging Leader who has chosen collections and technical services as a career and is a member of ALCTS

 

In her current position, Findley manages the cataloging department, performs original and copy cataloging and provides leadership in digital image collection development. 

 

She is a member of ALCTS, having served as co-chair and secretary of the New Members Interest Group, as a member of the ALCTS Newsletter Editor Search Committee and as an intern on the ALCTS Organization and Bylaws Committee.  She is currently a member of the ALCTS Publications Committee.  She is active in the Orbis Cascade Alliance having served in several capacities.  She is a member of Beta Phi Mu and is the current President of the Beta Epsilon Chapter.  Findley also is an adjunct faculty member for Emporia State University, where she has taught an online cataloging and classification course.  She will be a presenter along with Maureen Sullivan, ALA president-elect, on Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012, as part of the ALCTS Virtual Midwinter Symposium.  Her presentation will focus on why leadership is important in libraries today from an emerging leader perspective.

 

She received her bachelor's degree in media: film from the University of California-San Diego in La Jolla, Calif. and her Master of Library Science degree from the Emporia State University.

 

After her year in the Emerging Leader Program, Erica will serve a one-year term as intern to the ALCTS Board of Directors.

 

ALCTS is a division of the American Library Association.
