SLIS Alumnus of the Year Andrea Muto followed an unlikely path toward a career in international development. She became a librarian. Since April 2011, Muto has been in Pristina, Kosovo, as the senior legal advisor for a contractor with the U.S. Agency for International Development (U.S. AID), which is part of the U.S. State Department. Before going to Kosovo, she spent more than three years in Kabul, Afghanistan, developing that nation's first law library. Muto was unable to attend the alumni dinner on Monday, Oct. 17, but her mother and sister attended and accepted the honor on her behalf.
