The University of Southern Mississippi School of Library and Information Science, an ALA accredited program, seeks to fill three tenure track Assistant Professor positions. Faculty will teach at the undergraduate and graduate level, participate in the development and delivery of synchronous courses both face to face and via Internet; be proactive in grant writing and external funding, be contributing members of the library and information science community locally and nationally; and serve on faculty and university committees. On campus office hours and committee attendance required.   

Minimum Qualifications: 

● A completed Doctorate in library and information science or closely allied discipline, and Master's degree in Library and Information Science with 1 year of work experience in a library or repository setting; demonstrated skills with current information technology and demonstrated potential as a researcher and instructor. 

● Successful candidates will be competent with information and communications technologies, services to multicultural populations, and interdisciplinary approaches to information problems. 

● Successful candidates will have a research agenda, expertise and ability to teach in one or more of the traditional library science core, including but not limited to: technical services, information storage/retrieval, archival studies, database design and management, information transfer; information literacy; instructional design; school libraries, and services to youth.

 The University of Southern Mississippi has an enrollment of approximately 17,000 students across two campuses. The main campus is located 60 miles north of the Mississippi Gulf Coast and 110 miles northeast of New Orleans. Hattiesburg, a regional medical, retail and educational center, is a growing community with approximately 50,000 residents; the area was recently classified as a Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) of 100,000.
