The School of Information and Library Science (SILS) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking doctoral student applicants interested in Middle Eastern Studies and librarianship.
The “Educating Librarians in the Middle East: Building Bridges for the 21st Century: ELIME-21,” will lead to the establishment of graduate level library and information science programs adapted to meet the local needs of two universities in North Africa and the Middle East, the American University in Cairo and Al Akhawayn University in Morocco.
The Fellowships are funded by a grant through the Institute for Museum and Library Services (IMLS). The two-year Fellowships offers:
* A 20 hour a week position as a Research Fellow
* An annual stipend of $20,000
* In-state tuition and health coverage
* Opportunities to work on developing programs and offering classes with Middle Eastern partner institutions.
* Ph.D. students will travel to at least one of the Middle Eastern partner institutions where they will have the opportunity to work with students and
provide instruction.
