Instructional Technology (IT) 632, Online Learning Environments, will be offered spring 2012 on Tuesdays from 5:05pm – 7:45pm (online synchronous and asynchronous sessions), Instructor:

This fully online course will examine theory, research and practice of designing, developing and evaluating online learning environments including distance education and blended
learning approaches. This course will be primarily delivered through the UT Centra system. The discussions and explorations in class will include both synchronous and asynchronous online learning environments. Course topics will include issues related to current
trends in online learning, teaching and learning in an online environment, online learning communities, and designing participatory online courses. Students will engage in an in-depth reading of theory and research related to online learning environments as
well as gain experience designing a course that reflects what they learned during the course.
The course format will be blended with synchronous and asynchronous meetings primarily through Centra and Blackboard. To ensure that you are available for all synchronous course
activities please make sure that you are available for the set course hours.
