Located in suburban Birmingham, Samford is the largest privately‐funded and fully‐accredited institution of higher learning in Alabama. The university library, with nearly one million holdings, serves the university community of more than 4,700 undergraduate and graduate students and more than 700 full‐time employees. Additional information about the university can be found at www.samford.edu. Position Description: The User Engagement Librarian reports to the Chair of the Reference and Research Services (RRS). RRS is comprised of four librarians, two staff members, and numerous student workers. The User Engagement Librarian coordinates marketing initiatives, outreach activities, and has primary responsibility for managing the web presence for RRS. The individual in this position collaborates with various members of the Samford community to create, plan, and market activities/events that raise the profile of the library in order to consistently increase awareness of library presence, resources, and services. Participates significantly in information literacy instruction in the classroom and one-on-one environments. Provides reference service on a rotating basis to cover all hours that the library is open. This entails some weekend and some night duty. Perform additional duties as required. REQUIRED Qualifications: MLS/MLIS or equivalent from an ALA‐accredited institution. 3-5 years relevant experience. The candidate must be supportive of the university’s Christian mission. PREFERRED Qualifications : University Library experience. Basic web design, social networking, and web tools (e. g., LibGuides, LibAnswers). Teaching, training, or public speaking experience. Marketing, outreach, or event planning. Rank and Salary: Twelve‐month, non‐tenure track, faculty appointment; salary commensurate with experience; generous benefits/vacation package; tuition remission.
