Associate Director for Research Services

The University of Texas at Austin

 

The University of Texas Libraries invites applications and nominations for the position of Associate Director for Research Services, UT Austin Libraries. 

 

The Associate Director for Research Services is responsible for leading the collection development programs in an ARL top ten library with a complex funding environment and for providing oversight of the University of Texas System Digital Library and other consortial purchase arrangements. The Associate Director reports directly to the Vice Provost and Director of the UT Austin Libraries.

 

 

The University of Texas at Austin offers over 170 major degree program areas and awards over 800 doctoral degrees a year.  The UT Austin Libraries consortium supports institutions with annual research expenditures of $2.4 billion and includes 6 Nobel laureates and 124 members of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and the Arts and Sciences.

 

The UT Austin Libraries serve 38,000 undergraduates, 13,000 graduate students, 2,400 faculty, and 4,000 teaching staff.  The primary administered collections include 9,200,000 volumes and 93,000 current serials, eleven branches, and a remote storage facility shared with Texas A&M, with a second shared facility under construction.   The UT Austin Libraries work closely with the separately administered campus libraries of the: Harry Ransom Center, the Dolph Briscoe Center for American History, and the Jamail Center for Legal Research – Tarleton Law Library.  The UT System Digital Library is a collaborative consortia environment of nine academic and six medical institutions serving 211,000 students, 19,000 faculty, and 69,000 staff.

Salary and Benefits:  $105,000 annually or more, depending upon qualifications and experience.  No state or local income tax.  State benefits package includes annual vacation and sick leave, paid holidays, retirement plans, and health insurance options (comprehensive major medical, dental, vision, life, and disability).  Deferred compensation and tax sheltered annuity programs are also available.
