Family Weekend Online Registration Ends Sunday!Sunday, August 21 is the last day to register online for Family Weekend. While registration is available on a first-come, first-served basis, there are still plenty of Family Weekend packages available, so log on to ensure that you and your family are able to take advantage of this great opportunity to spend some time on campus with your student. Festivities will include the Big Orange Tailgate in Circle Park prior to the football game between our beloved Vols and Cincinnati, and so much more! Nametags for Family WeekendThe Office of the Parents Association will print name tags for all Family Weekend participants. If the name displayed in the event registration system is not what you want on your name tag, please edit your name in the Family Weekend Event system by clicking here. Silent AuctionAs part of Family Weekend, participants will have the opportunity to participate in the 3rd Annual Family Weekend Silent Auction, which directly supports student scholarships and programs. Classes Begin TodayThe Fall 2011 semester is officially underway as academic classes begin today. Please note the add and drop deadlines in the important dates panel to the right when talking to your student. Student Success Center - AIM for Academic SuccessThe Student Success Center (SSC) offers many key ways to get students help when they need it and keep them on track to graduation. The SSC message for all students is to AIM for academic success. Students can do this by Attending all of their classes, Investing in their commitment, and Managing their time. Career Services Part-Time Job FairThe Part-Time Job Fair will take place on Wednesday, August 24 from 2:00-5:00 PM in the University Center Ballroom. This is a great opportunity for your student to talk with employers recruiting for both on and off-campus part-time jobs. A partial list of employers includes Aramark, Clayton Homes/Vanderbilt Mortgage, Jewelry TV, Knoxville Utilities Board (KUB), UT Telefund, UT Recycling, etc. Please click here to view a complete list of employers attending the fair (updated daily). Fraternity Recruitment Begins Next WeekThe University of Tennessee Interfraternity Council (IFC) is proud to host Fall Recruitment Week 2011. Recruitment begins this Sunday, August 21 and runs through Friday, August 26. Recruitment is open to all male undergraduate students. US Mail and Package Delivery in Campus Residence HallsEach campus residence has its own post office facility, which allows residents to have their mail delivered directly to their building. For your convenience, the Parents Association has included information on page 43 of the Parent Association Handbook and Calendar (distributed to all members at either Orientation or via US mail in June and July) regarding mail and package delivery in residence halls. Please consult your Parents Association Handbook and Calendar. Meal Plan & Dining Dollars Versus the VolCard AccountWe have been receiving a number of questions lately regarding meal plans and the difference between Dining Dollars and the VolCard Account. First, both accounts are housed on the VolCard, your student's ID card. Your student's VolCard does it all! Reduced Rate at Hilton for Montana Football GameThe Hilton downtown is offering a special discounted rate for the Montana football weekend (September 3). The reduced rate of $149.99 will be offered using the UT Parents Association code, which can be found here. This special offer ends on August 19. After August 19, the rate increases to $169.99.
