Two Graduate Research Assistant positions are available for working on an IMLS and a NSF grant project with Dr. Vandana Singh, School of Information Sciences. 1- NSF GRA The NSF GRA will conduct research involving interactions with users of Open Source Software. There will be data collection activities like interviews and surveys and secondary data analysis. The GRA will need the following skills: (1) Experience in gathering user data or a related course work and/or (2) Experience with or an interest in learning how to develop a web-based survey. This is a 10 hour a week, 6-month position and includes tuition reimbursement for Fall 2011, health insurance, and a monthly stipend. The position will begin immediately. 2- IMLS GRA The IMLS GRA will work on the Drupal site for the project (www.oss-research.com<http://www.oss-research.com>): The activities related to Drupal site will include (1) managing the site, (2) creating interactivity on the site with social media tools and (3) Publicizing the site to the librarians interested in open source software. In addition to working on the Drupal site the GRA will also work on other parts of the project involving conducting research for the use of Open Source Integrated Library Software and writing reports/papers. The GRA will need the following skills: (1) Experience in gathering user data or a related course work and/or (2) Experience with or an interest in learning how to integrate interactivity tools in a Drupal site. (IS 567 experience preferred) This is a 10 hour a week, 12-month position and includes tuition reimbursement for Fall 2011 and Spring 2012, health insurance, and a monthly stipend. The position will begin immediately.
