Young Adult Librarian Position Open

The Paris-Bourbon County Public Library is searching for an energetic, flexible, and creative person to join our staff in the newly created position of Young Adult Librarian. Position duties include selection of books and other materials for the young adults in the Bourbon County Community, expansion of services targeted for young adults, development of public relations materials, and a variety of other library-oriented duties. Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited institution is strongly desired. Bachelor’s degree and extensive experience working with young adults will be considered. At least one year of prior library experience is preferred. Knowledge of the book trade and teaching experience are helpful. Excellent computer skills, fine-tuned interpersonal skills, a well-developed sense of humor, understanding of cultural trends, commitment to community, and ability to function as part of a service-oriented team are a must. Must be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends. The position requires regular lifting of books and other library materials up to 35 pounds.

Employment is full time and pay starts at $31,009.05 per year. Excellent benefits package.

Youth Services Librarian Position Open

The Paris-Bourbon County Public Library is searching for an energetic, flexible, and creative person to join our staff as the Youth Services Librarian. Position duties include selection of children's books and other materials, continued creation of services targeted for children, development of public relations materials, and a variety of other library-oriented duties. This position may require the supervision of volunteers and other part or full-time youth services staff. Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited institution is required. At least one year of prior library experience and prior supervisory experience is preferred. Knowledge of the book trade and teaching experience are helpful. Excellent computer skills, fine-tuned interpersonal skills, a well-developed sense of humor, commitment to community, and ability to function as part of a service-oriented team are a must. Must be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends. The position requires regular lifting of books and other library materials up to 35 pounds.
