FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE IMLS Press Contact Grant Awards Announcement: African American History and Culture Washington, DC—The Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) announced today 15 awards totaling $1,455,606 matched with $1,668,215 of non-federal funds for Museum Grants for African American History and Culture. IMLS received 41 applications requesting $4,433,894 in funds. “This year's funding will help African American museums train staff, improve business practices and increase the use of technology to preserve and share African American history and culture,” said Susan Hildreth, IMLS Director. “These organizations, their exhibits, programs and collections, and the people who lead them are truly inspiring.
