It can also be found online at http://ischool.uw.edu/jobs/faculty ____ Organization: Information School Title: Assistant Professor ________________________________ Position Details ________________________________ Furthering a research agenda focused on children and adolescents and strengthened with the recently established Beverly Cleary Professorship, the University of Washington Information School seeks a visionary individual who bridges a rich understanding of youth with life in a digital society. This individual should have a strong commitment to excellence in both research and teaching and should be excited by and able to thrive in an intellectually stimulating multi-disciplinary environment. All areas related to children and adolescents in a digital society and allied fields are welcomed. Specializations of particular interest include: * Social media, social computing, and converging technologies for reading, writing, creativity, collaboration and other 21st century literacies * Informal and formal information behavior and resource evaluation in a digital culture * Multicultural and global aspects of youth in a digital society * Implications of digital life for youth including brain, cognitive, ethical, and social development * Digital storytelling * Youth and adult co-design of youth-related products and services, design research, and other innovative approaches to investigation The Information School is ranked #2 in the US and Canada for Children and Youth Services. Our new colleague will join a broad-based, inclusive information school. Faculty members teach across programs. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service. Candidates should show a commitment to bridging research and practice. This is a full-time 9 month appointment anticipated at the rank of Assistant Professor.
