Forwarded
on behalf of YALSA’s President, Sarah Flowers:
Please
take a look at YALSA's new draft research agenda. In 2008 YALSA made a
commitment to taking a leadership role in the area of young adult library
research, and this is a step toward that goal. A public comment period is open
now until Aug. 15: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/3TH2TNN.
YALSA, through a generous
donation from Dollar General, is giving away 10 sets of the 2011 Teens' Top Ten
nominees to libraries in need. Applications are due Aug. 1, 2011. Access
the online application here (Word doc). To learn more
about the Teens' Top Ten, visit www.ala.org/teenstopten.
Registration is open for the
2011-2012 WrestleMania Reading Challenge! Tweens and
teens could win a trip to WrestleMania and librarians could win $2,000 for
their library. Sign up today for free promotional materials. Registration ends
July 31.
If you want to serve on a
YALSA selection or award committee, whose work begins Feb. 1, 2012, now is the
time to submit your volunteer form: http://yalsa.ala.org/forms/selectionvolunteer.php.
Forms are due by September 30, and President-Elect Jack Martin will be making
appointments in October. To learn more about the committees as well as
the appointments process, please visit http://wikis.ala.org/yalsa/index.php/Get_Involved_in_YALSA.
