The iSchool at Drexel, College of Information Science and Technology is proud to announce that Dr. Guy Garrison, iSchool Professor and Dean Emeritus, will receive an Honorary Doctorate on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at Drexel University.

Dr. Garrison joined Drexel University in 1968 as Professor and Dean of what was then the Graduate School of Library and Information Science, and served as Dean for a remarkable 19 years until 1987, when he became the first Alice B. Kroeger Professor, continuing that role until his retirement in 1992.  He has been influential and active in the field of library and information science both nationally and internationally. He is a life member of the American Library Association, serving as an elected member of Council, and in 1992 he received ALA’s Beta Phi Mu Award for distinguished service to the field. He was also active in the Association for Library and Information Science Education.
