The National Library of Medicine (NLM) seeks qualified applicants  for
the position of *Deputy* *Chief, Technical Services Division. *The
position has responsibility for assisting the Chief in  managing
Division operations, including supervising and directing the
activities of approximately 80 employees with the assistance of three
Section Heads and various subordinate supervisors and technical
experts. The Library’s Technical Services Division is responsible for
formulating and implementing collection development policies,
selecting and acquiring electronic and print materials, licensing,
cataloging and metadata description, and managing the NLM integrated
library system, digital repository and other systems.
The incumbent will assist in expanding  the scope of electronic
resources for the collection, developing and  implementing innovative
redesign of processing workflows, leading policy  and program
development, utilizing data to inform and improve Division operations,
and representing NLM as an  authority in the field of technical
services.
The annual salary range for this position is $105,211-136,771 and you
must be a U.S. citizen to apply.

The University of Minnesota Libraries invites applications for two
innovative, enthusiastic, and creative science librarians to fill two-year
positions.  We seek librarians who combine skills in outreach, technology,
and subject expertise to help shape the future of library services.

One science librarian will be based in C. Peter Magrath Library (
http://magrath.lib.umn.edu/ )   and report to the Academic Program Director
for Agricultural, Biological, and Environmental Sciences.  The successful
candidate will serve as liaison to the Food Science and Nutrition, Soil,
Water, and Climate, and Animal Science Departments.

A second science librarian will be based in the Science & Engineering
Library (http://sciweb.lib.umn.edu ) and report to the Academic Program
Director for the Physical Sciences and Engineering. The successful candidate
will serve as liaison to the Geology, Physics and Astronomy Departments.

Required qualifications include an ALA-accredited Masters degree in
Library/Information Science or an advanced degree with relevant experience.

technology, and innovation?  Do you possess excellent organizational and
technical skills?



LSSI seeks an energetic individual with library experience—both technical
and customer service—to serve as a full-time special assistant in the
Research Library of a downtown DC-based federal international finance
agency.  The library assistant also acts as the Project Manager for the
library’s contract staff.



The library is proactive and service-oriented, anticipating and addressing
information needs of all of the agency’s employees.  The Research Assistant
plays a vital role in the library’s organization and innovation.



Duties include, but are not limited to:

   - Act as special assistant to Director; perform special assignments as
   needed
   - Track library, Library 2.0, and technical innovation trends and report
   on them to Director as they relate to the agency’s culture and Research
   Library needs
   - Through template design and advanced formatting, assist with organizing
   and synthesizing research into useable formats using Word, Excel, Acrobat
   Pro, and LibGuides
   - Independently handle a portfolio of research alerts – some automated,
   some custom
   - Other research responsibilities include routine database searching and
   document reference
   - Working on the library’s intranet with Dreamweaver and LibGuides
   - Assist with management of ILS and OPAC



Successful candidates will function well in a fast-paced environment and
work well in an enthusiastic and high-performing team.



Ideal candidates should possess:

   - MLS degree; recent MLS with some library experience preferred
   - A friendly attitude with exceptional customer service
   - High energy and enthusiasm
   - A keen interest in the Library profession and modern Library concepts
   - Excellent motivation and be a natural self-starter who can work
   independently
   - The ability to multitask and juggle duties, with an excellent
   understanding of priorities
   - Proven skill in software use: advanced MS Office, Excel, and Acrobat
   Pro at a minimum
   - Excellent written and oral communication skills
   - The ability to organize and display information creatively in multiple
   formats
   - The ability to lightly supervise staff as the contract’s Project
   Manager
