Program Manager – Center for Information and Communication Studies

Employee will be the project manager for all activities for the Institute for Museum and Library Services (IMLS) grant, “LibValue”, including interacting with project team, coordinating project surveys, project scheduling and financial administration. The $1M grant was awarded to the Center for Information and Communication Studies (CICS) with a performance period of three years - 12/1/2009 through 11/30/2012.

 

Employee is responsible for project and financial monitoring of the federal grant award which effects the program, the department, the college, and the University (federal agencies closely monitor financial administration).The employee may also represent the Center to outside agencies.  Employee will ensure that all activities and expenditures meet University and federal grant requirements.  Employee will sometimes designate the funds to which expenditures should be charged based on grant regulations. Employee will direct travel authorizations and reimbursements, and purchasing relating to the grant.  Employee will ensure that all deadlines are met, reports prepared and issued, and project is carried out per the grant proposal.  Employee coordinates interaction between project participants; conducts surveys, gathers data, and works with team to analyze and present results.                                                                                                            

Employee will review all travel, personnel, and payroll records.  Ensures effort certification is correct. Performs various grant budget reporting, budget preparation; monitors monthly budget and ongoing expenditures; prepares budget/financial reports with projected spending.  Advises on budget matters and instructs grant team on grant/University guidelines. Coordinates team meetings and travel.  Prepares written communication and reports for the department for presentation at conferences, and for federal granting agencies.

 

The job duties will be varied with considerable responsibility for oversight of a complex project with many diverse partners.  The position may begin as early as June 13, 2011.

 

Education: M.S. in Information Sciences or equivalent degree required.

Experience:  5 years of office or accounting experience and/or experience in an academic library.  Experience with academic libraries, return on investment and library research projects desired.

Job Skills:  Microsoft Word; Excel; PowerPoint; excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to lead a team and work both alone and with a team.
