Students at Wayne State’s School of Library and Information Science (SLIS) will receive three, annual, $2000 scholarships funded by Bookstock: Used Book & Media Sale, a community service project that uses proceeds from the sale of gently used books and other media to support education and literacy projects throughout Metro Detroit. Also contributing to the SLIS scholarships are Bookstock partners Gardner-White Furniture and Wallside Windows.

Bookstock volunteers mobilize each year to host book and media sales events. This year’s Bookstock will be held May 15-22 at Laurel Park Place Mall in Livonia. Most books are priced at $3 or less. Bookstock has raised more than $530,000 over the past eight years. The sale is the culmination of a year's worth of work by 600 volunteers who collect, sort and organize books.
