Dominican GSLIS introduces three new certificate programs Dominican University’s Graduate School of Library and Information Science has introduced three new certificate programs. Students pursuing a Master of Library and Information Science degree can now earn certificates in Informatics, Library Service to Young People, or Archives and Cultural Heritage Resources and Services.

The Certificate of Informatics blends technology skills with the study of the socio-cultural consequences of information and communication technologies. As rapidly changing and emerging technologies pervade the majority of people’s lives, it is increasingly important to have a greater understanding of the impact these new technologies have on individuals, organizations and society.

The Certificate of Advanced Study in Library Service to Young People includes concentrated study in the materials and services available to children and teens in public and school libraries, and the philosophy and practice involved in bringing those materials and services to the young people who need them.

The Archives and Cultural Heritage Resources and Services Certificate focuses on the collection, appraisal, and preservation of documents, artifacts and materials found in public archives, colleges and universities, museums and cultural heritage sites, photographic and film collections, public libraries, foundations, government agencies and corporations.

All certificates are available to students currently pursuing an MLIS degree at the Graduate School of Library and Information Science or to returning students who want to add the specialization to a completed Dominican MLIS degree or its equivalent from an ALA-accredited graduate library program.
