Dunkley, of the University of South Florida, School of Information, has been elected president<http://www.floridamedia.org/displaycommon.cfm?an=1&subarticlenbr=16> of the Florida Association for Media in Education (FAME)<http://www.floridamedia.org/index.cfm>, the state's professional organization of school librarians. Her term will begin in 2012.
She has served FAME on the Membership Recruitment Committee, Awards/Public Relations Committee, and the Professional Development Committee. She was elected to the Board of Directors in 2010.
Dr. Dunkley has been a faculty member at USF SI since 2002. Her primary research interests are: multicultural literature for children and young adults, and the role of media specialists in literature-based reading programs. At USF SI, Dr. Dunkley teaches several courses, including Materials for Children, Storytelling, Organization and Administration of the School Media Center, and Multicultural Literature for Children and Young Adults.
Dr. Dunkley served as a school librarian/media specialist in Arkansas, Tennessee and Georgia. She was an active member of the Georgia Library Media Association.  Currently, she is a member of the American Library Association, American Association of School Librarians, Young Adult Library Services Association, Association for Library Service to Children, and she serves on the jury of the Coretta Scott King Book Awards Committee. She presently serves on the board of directors at the St. Peter Claver Catholic School. In 2011, she celebrates twenty-five years as a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
Dr. Dunkley received her B.S. from Fort Valley State (College) University, Fort Valley (GA), M.S. from Atlanta University (Clark-Atlanta) and her Ph.D. from Florida State.
FAME<http://www.floridamedia.org/> is an organization dedicated to promoting excellence in media services for Florida´s students and serving as a network for all Florida library media professionals. FAME´s annual conferences are valuable opportunities for novices and experienced media professionals to collaborate, network and share ideals through a variety of presentations. Florida Media Quarterly is the association's professional journal.
