Surveys
are a popular way to gather information from a group of people about trends,
practices, opinions, and preferences. Surveys are so popular, in fact, that
there may be several vying for your attention right now! Is that another survey
in your email inbox? How will you decide whether to answer or delete it? Does
the survey appear to be relevant to you, interesting, and, perhaps most
importantly, easy to complete?
Good
survey design may make all the difference between a survey that is skipped and
one that is completed. In this online workshop you will learn to design an
effective, easy to complete survey that provides reliable, usable results. In
addition, you’ll have the chance to create a survey of your own and get
feedback on how to improve it. This workshop will cover:
The elements of a survey
Survey question formats and response options
Developing scales
Drafting and testing a survey questionnaire
Survey samples and response rates
Ethical considerations
Organizing and presenting your results
Instructor:
Eleta Exline has been the University of New Hampshire Library's Digital
Collections Librarian since October 2005. Her current task at UNH is to develop
policies and procedures for the digital initiative and to implement a digital
asset management system.
