Description:  REFERENCE / INSTRUCTION LIBRARIAN

Philander Smith College in Little Rock AR, invites applications for a full-time, 12 month position as Reference/Instruction Librarian.   Reporting to the Head Librarian, the successful candidate will be expected to promote, develop and deliver general and course-specific instructional materials and topic guides in all formats using appropriate current technologies.  The individual will be actively involved in the Library’s Information Literacy program and will also serve as liaison librarian for designated academic subjects.  Other duties include collection development and Web content development.

Minimum Qualifications

Master of Library Science degree from an ALA – accredited program.

Desired:

Experience in Library Instruction

Experience with electronic resources, online searching, Course-integrated information literacy; Demonstrated use of web design tools in a Library environment.

Commitment to service and the flexibility to work some evening and weekend hours in rotation with other librarians.   

Excellent written and oral communication skills.
