Caribbean Fiesta with Former ALA President, Dr. Camila Alire

Tired of the rain and cold? Be transported to the tropics with delicious Caribbean cuisine, Calypso jazz, Latin Rhythms and T-bay* all while listening to and learning from one of the country’s top 100 most influential Hispanics, Dr. Camila Alire.

The broad scope of Dr. Alire’s career has encompassed leadership, advocacy, research and writing on topics ranging from library disaster recovery to leadership development and special topics for Latinos and other minorities.  Having served as past president of ALA and Dean Emerita at the University of New Mexico and Colorado State University in Fort Collins, CO, Dr. Alire has a unique perspective on library leadership and the role of minority leaders.   Because the purpose of this event is to raise funds for the Spectrum Scholarships, Dr. Alire’s presentation and presence will offer an inspiration for all students, staff and faculty with a passion for this topic.   More information about Dr. Camila Alire can be found at www.camilaalire.com .

*What is a T-bay, you say? T-bay is the premier bid driven fundraising portion of the program.  Autographed memorabilia from Coaches Summit and Pearl will be available.  Come prepared to help raise funds for this important scholarship program.
