Jennifer Campbell-Meier Appointed Assistant Professor at The University of Alabama's School of Library and Information Studies
The School of Library & Information Studies (SLIS) at The University of Alabama is pleased to announce that Dr. Jennifer Campbell-Meier has accepted appointment as Assistant Professor, effective August 2011.  Dr. Campbell-Meier has served as Instructor at SLIS since August 2010, teaching in the areas of information services, foundations, academic and special librarianship, and information technologies.
Dr. Campbell-Meier is a graduate of the University of Hawaii at Manoa where she completed the PhD in Communication and Information Sciences.  Her research there focused on Institutional Repository Development, an interest that she brings to SLIS. She received both an MLS and a BA from Indiana University in Bloomington.  Dr. Campbell-Meier has taught in library and information science programs at San Jose State University, the University of British Columbia, and at her alma mater in Honolulu.
Dr. Campbell-Meier also brings a wealth of practical experience in information settings to The University of Alabama program.  Most recently, she served as Coordinator of Information Literacy and Distance Education at North Georgia College and State University in Dahlonega, GA.  She has also held positions as Knowledge Management Coordinator, Electronic Resources Coordinator, Assistant Cataloger, and Multimedia Librarian for academic libraries in Indiana, Hawaii, and South Dakota.
Dr. Campbell-Meier has published and presented on the topics of institutional repositories, information literacy, and information services. Over the past dozen years she has been active in community, scholarly, and professional services including library board membership, leadership on campus committees, and involvement in state library programs and library associations.   She served as co-investigator on The GALILEO Knowledge Repository, a grant project funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services and she continues to be involved in developing federally- and state- funded projects for The University of Alabama.
