Academic Professional Associate (Non-tenure track, 9 month)

The Learning, Design, and Technology (LDT) program in the Department of
Educational Psychology and Instructional Technology at the University of
Georgia in Athens, Georgia seeks to hire an Academic Professional Associate
(non-tenure track, academic year position).  Applicants to this Information
Science position will support the existing School Library Media emphasis
area and be an energetic and innovative individual who has an established or
clearly emerging professional expertise as an online instructor and emphasis
area leader to begin August 2011.

Required Qualifications:

€    Earned doctorate (by time of appointment) in library and information
science, school librarianship, educational technology, or related field and
an MLIS (or comparable degree)
€    Established or clearly emerging professional expertise as an online
instructor and emphasis area leader

Desired Qualifications:

€    Experience in K-12 educational contexts, particularly in school
libraries
€    Experience teaching online at the graduate level
€    Experience delivering professional training using online learning
technologies
€    Background in information access and services
€    Digital Information services
€    Assessment and evaluation of information services
€    Information literacy
€    Management of information services
€    Teaching experience in MLIS Core Areas

Description of Expectations

The candidate will be expected to provide:
1.    Quality teaching (two courses per semester) and advising for students
in the school library media education specialist and masters degree emphasis
area
2.    Specialized program management
3.    Service on master¹s and specialist committees
4.    Support for faculty as we move toward a more comprehensive information
science orientation in the school library media emphasis area

The teaching responsibilities of this position will primarily be at the
graduate level, online and at the UGA-Gwinnett campus. LDT students in this
blended M.Ed. and Ed.S. degree emphasis area aspire to be school library
media specialists in K-12 schools and take both online courses and
face-to-face courses at our Gwinnett Campus (http://www.uga.edu/gwinnett/).
