Undergraduates and selected UT faculty:
This GRAship, offered by my former Ph.D. student (and current Geography Department Adjunct) Chad Lane, is a collaborative project involving labs at UT together with Chad's lab at the University of North Carolina in Wilmington. This is a great opportunity for a student who wants to pursue an MS degree in the paleoenvironmental research area. Get paid a salary to do your MS research! Please contact Chad or me for more information.
Sincerely,
Sally Horn
I am writing to announce the availability of a one year Research Assistantship in the Department of Geography and Geology at the University of North Carolina-Wilmington for the 2011-2012 academic year and summer of 2012. The student will need to pursue a master’s degree in the department to be eligible for the assistantship. Salary for the position will be $16,500. This position has come available at the last minute due to a series of unexpected events.
The project involves the compound-specific isotopic analysis of lipids extracted from lake sediments collected in the mid-elevations of the Dominican Republic with the goal of reconstructing paleohydrology and vegetation changes during the late Holocene.
Information about the department can be found at http://uncw.edu/earsci/ and more information about my research group can be found at http://people.uncw.edu/lanec/index.html.
If you know of any potentially interested students please pass along this message ASAP and have them contact me directly ([log in to unmask]) as our application deadline has already passed, but I will be frantically pulling strings to get the position filled by a qualified graduate student.
Thanks for your time!
Chad Lane
