Business & Operations Manager, Gallery, New York City
For our distinguished Upper East Side gallery client we are seeking a Business & Operations Manager.  The successful applicant will assist the CFO with daily financial operations; handle accounts payable and receivable; process sales, loans, trades and consignments; track expenses, maintain files and update databases and archives; manage the fine arts insurance policy; assist with HR and facilities management, including health insurance administration, IT projects and vendor contracts; facilitate staff meetings; other duties as necessary.  The ideal candidate will have 5-8 years experience as an accountant or bookkeeper and excellent computer, managerial and administrative skills.  Proficiency with Quickbooks and Excel required; familiarity with ArtBase and cross-platform computing strongly preferred.  Excellent communications skills, a team-player, tact and discretion are all necessary; some weekend hours are required.  A notary public is a plus.  Excellent salary DOE plus benefits.  Please send resume with detailed cover letter and the contact information for at least three references to [log in to unmask]

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum is currently considering
candidates for the temporary Project Cataloger position. The Project
Cataloger reports to the Catalog and Metadata Librarian and is responsible
for cataloging library materials and the creation of metadata for digital
collections in the Library and Archives.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

1. Performs original and complex copy cataloging for library materials in
several formats, including monographs, serials, sound recordings, video
recordings, music scores, and electronic resources.
• Performs name and subject authority work according to NACO standards.
• Performs subject analysis and classification.
• Performs original cataloging for collection-level description of archival
collections.
• Monitors and supports adherence to national and international standards of
bibliographic control and access, including AACR2, MARC21, MARC-AMC, and
DACS.

2. Supports the discovery of and access to digital objects through the
creation and ongoing maintenance of metadata.
• Creates metadata for Library and Archives digital objects, including text,
images, audio, and video.
• Monitors and supports adherence to national and international standards
for metadata, including Dublin Core, METS, MODS, and VRA.

3. May assist in supervising student workers and/or volunteers.

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Education Level:
• Master's degree from an ALA-accredited program in library or information
science is required; undergraduate and/or advanced degree in music or other
relevant degree is strongly preferred.

Experience in Field:
• A minimum of three years experience cataloging in an academic, research,
or special library environment.
• Experience cataloging in an integrated library system, preferably
Millennium specifically with experience performing original and copy
cataloging of library materials and archival collections in several formats,
including monographs, serials, sound recordings, and video recordings.
• Experience cataloging music and music-related materials.
• Experience cataloging using AACR2, Library of Congress Rule
Interpretations, Library of Congress Subject Headings, and MARC formats.
• Experience using OCLC utilities, including WorldCat and Connexion.
• Experience with authority control.
• Experience in the creation of controlled headings according to AACR2.
• Experience creating metadata for description of digital objects using
digital asset management systems and/or content management systems.

Unique Expertise/Certification/Registrations:
• Expertise in best practices in cataloging library materials.
• Demonstrated understanding of metadata and current trends in metadata
standards and knowledge of metadata schema including Dublin Core, EAD, TEI,
VRA, MODS, and METS .
• Demonstrated knowledge of AACR2, Library of Congress Rule Interpretations,
Library of Congress Subject Headings, DACS, and MARC formats.
• Knowledge of music cataloging decisions and knowledge of rock and roll
history and related popular music genres is strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of music reference sources and research tools is strongly
preferred.
• Knowledge of archival arrangement and description is preferred.
• Computer literate in standard office management software, including
Microsoft Office applications.
• Outstanding team orientation, flexibility, and ability to work both
independently and collaboratively.
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, organizational
skills, and interpersonal skills.
• Detail oriented with ability to organize and prioritize tasks to meet
deadlines and manage multiple projects concurrently.
• Ability to successfully pass a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum
reference check, background investigation and drug screening.

WORK SCHEDULE:
Ability to work 40 hours per week; any shift as assigned, including
evenings, weekends and holidays. Ability to work additional hours as
workload demands. Hours are primarily 8:30 am – 5:30 pm Monday through
Friday.* This position is a temporary position.*
