ORGANIZATION: NATIONAL MUSEUM of QATAR (NMoQ)

The Qatar Museums Authority (http://www.qma.com.qa) unites and focuses
the efforts of all museums in the State of Qatar for the acquisition,
preservation, and interpretation of collections and monuments held in
trust for the Qatari people, and shared with the world at large.  The
Qatar Museums Authority provides the leadership and accountability
necessary for the development of a strong and growing system of 21st
century national museums, and an effective system for protecting,
preserving and interpreting historic sites and monuments.

The new National Museum of Qatar (MoQ), currently under development,
will  represent the history, heritage, and culture of Qatar, enhancing
understanding through exhibitions, education, cultural site visits,
and technology-based programming for the nation, the region and the
world.  The institutional vision is realized by:

-Presenting the highest quality visitor experiences through
exhibitions and programs.
-Collecting, preserving and conserving the tangible and intangible
cultural heritage of Qatar.
-Enabling and supporting collections-based and other research topics
of importance, to broaden the scope and knowledge of Qatar’s cultural
heritage.

-Developing and offering educational programming, publications, films,
and online learning opportunities that engage visitors and provoke
further exploration and study in Qatar.
-Facilitating visitor travel to important cultural sites throughout
Qatar while promoting sustainable cultural tourism.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Reporting to the Deputy Director for Curatorial and Collections
Management, the Research and Content Development Coordinator (RCDC) is
responsible for managing the flow of work and information related to
the development of core exhibitions for the new National Museum of
Qatar.  Liaising between Curators, Researchers, Interpretive Planners,
Collections staff, Programs staff, and Exhibit Designers, the RCDC
will be responsible for scheduling, producing process documents,
managing online collaborative tools, managing a contact database,
managing feedback, monitoring progress, and project document
archiving.  The RCDC will coordinate and facilitate the logistics of
meetings, project team communications, and distribution of information
and materials to various team members and departments.  The RCDC will
maintain detailed records of curatorial and research output, as well
as potential items (objects, media, and other collections) for use in
exhibitions, as well as identifying copyright and intellectual
property issues and obtaining permissions where necessary.  The
Research and Content Development Coordinator will play a critical role
in ensuring that project deliverables are on time by providing
accurate and timely information, research and reports, as well as
managing process and progress.

QUALIFICATIONS:
-Bachelor’s Degree in Museum Studies or related discipline
-Minimum 3–5 years experience in research, content development,
content coordination, or project management in a museum setting
-Solid record of coordinating highly detailed projects; ability to
manage multiple projects simultaneously

-Proven communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to
build effective relationships, an ability to negotiate and strong
conflict resolution skills
-Demonstrated high level written communication skills, especially in
regard to the preparation of reports, policies and procedures

-Solid analytical skills and meticulous in attention to detail
-Knowledge of various research methods and exhibition development
processes desirable
-Understanding of copyright and intellectual property issues desired

-High level of proficiency with database software, cataloging
software, project management software
-Understanding of cataloging standards and database administration issues
-Thoroughly versed in Microsoft Office

-Flexibility of working hours required to meet deadlines.
-Successful candidate must demonstrate cultural, gender, religious,

Contract package includes generous tax-free salary, furnished

The Kentucky Historical Society (KHS) is a state agency and membership
organization that is fully accredited by the American Association of
Museums.  The KHS mission is to engage people in the exploration of the
Commonwealth’s diverse heritage by providing *connections to the past,
perspective on the present, and inspiration for the future. *

KHS seeks a graduate-level intern for the Museum Collections and Exhibitions
(MCE) department.  The intern will gain a broad, hands-on experience in
researching collection objects and materials, collections management and
care, and documentation and registration methods. The intern will
participate in exhibition research, maintenance, and installation if
exhibition schedule allows. The intern will complete a survey of at least
one KHS artifact collection and make a final presentation to appropriate
staff.



Timeframe is approximately June 2011 to August 2011 (150-200 hours).  Exact
timeframe and hours will be mutually determined by the supervisor and the
successful candidate.



*Minimum requirements*: Must be currently enrolled in an accredited graduate
level program working towards a Masters Degree in Museum Studies, Public
History, History or other related field. Must have strong research skills
and basic knowledge of historical interpretation and the proper handling of
museum objects and archival materials.



This is a temporary position based in Frankfort, KY. Employee benefits are
not available.  Housing is not provided. Compensation is $1,300 - $1,700,
based on actual hours worked.

Working in a team environment in Bibliographic & Information
Technology Services, the Discovery Systems Librarian will be
responsible  for a suite of discovery and retrieval systems designed
to help expose the Libraries' rich collections and for supporting
student, faculty, and library staff through leadership in technology
and services planning, project coordination, and operations support.
Discovery systems and services include the University of Alberta
Libraries /  NEOS online public access catalogue, "next-generation"
faceted discovery tools, federated / meta- search tools for exposing
content across separate silos (e.g., licensed electronic resources,
local repositories of digitized content, etc.), OpenURL link resolvers
and related products (e.g., recommender services), proxy servers /
services, and ancillary products such as citation management services.

The University of Miami Libraries seeks a Database Management

tools.   The incumbent trains and supervises supporting staff in

database maintenance and quality control and participates in original
cataloging of print/online materials in a variety of formats, as well
as provide descriptive metadata for digital collections as needed. The
incumbent will also coordinate quality control projects for non-MARC

metadata from digital collections.

POSITION:  Reporting to the Head of Cataloging & Metadata Services,
the Database Management Librarian provides leadership and guidance in
planning and managing database maintenance and authority control

activities in the University Library to ensure the quality of its
resource discovery tools.   The incumbent trains and supervises
supporting staff in database maintenance and quality control and
participates in original cataloging of print/online materials in a

variety of formats, as well as provide descriptive metadata for
digital collections as needed. The incumbent will also coordinate
quality control projects for non-MARC metadata from digital
collections. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the

following. Other duties may be assigned.

Performance:
•	Responsible for performing and managing authority control,
bibliographic quality control, and database problem resolution to
insure bibliographic and authority records meet local and national

standards, working closely with other library faculty/staff to
establish and document relevant policies, procedures, and efficient
workflows
•	Supervises, trains, and evaluates authority control and database
maintenance staff  (2.5 FTE)

•	Acts as a liaison to authority and database enrichment vendors and
manages the loading and quality control for all vendor supplied
records and data
•	Works with Metadata Services and Digital Library Initiatives to

establish  relevant policies, procedures, and workflows for metadata
quality control of digital collections
•	Participates in original cataloging of all formats and metadata
creation activities in the library as needed

Service:
•	Networks, collaborates and actively participates in local, regional,
national, or international organizations regarding issues in
librarianship, cataloging, database maintenance and authority control

services
•	Represents and promotes the University of Miami Libraries in local,
state-wide, regional, national, or international organizations as
appropriate
•	Serves on/participates in University and Library committees, task

forces, and teams as appropriate

QUALIFICATIONS :  Required:
•	Master’s degree from an ALA accredited program or foreign equivalent
•	Two years of professional cataloging experience.  Professional
understanding and knowledge of cataloging procedures and principles,

including but not limited to: AACR2R, LCRIs, LC classification, LCSH,
MARC21 bibliographic and authority formats
•	Professional understanding and knowledge of non-MARC metadata
schemas, standards, best practices, and their applications, such as

Dublin Core, EAD, VRA Core, MODS, METS, etc.
•	Working knowledge of bibliographic utilities and integrated library
systems and familiarity with authority and database enrichment vendors
services
•	Prior successful supervisory experience; ability to motivate staff

and set priorities
•	Demonstrated ability to work quickly and accurately in a service and
production-oriented environment, and adapt to a fast paced rapidly
changing environment
•	Ability to plan and implement routines and processes that ensure

optimum production, and monitor projects through to completion in a
cost-effective manner
•	Demonstrated  ability to work independently, as well as
collaboratively with diverse constituents
•	Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills

•	Reading knowledge of one or more foreign languages (Spanish preferred)

Highly Desirable:
•	Experience managing  authority control processes and/or vendor services
•	Experience  batch loading and editing  bibliographic records, using

Millennium (Innovative Interfaces) and/or  third party software, such
as MarcEdit, preferred
•	Experience developing macros and/or scripts to enhance productivity

with experience and qualifications. This is a non-tenure track faculty
appointment at the Librarian Assistant/ Associate Professor rank. The
