It has been a busy month for tournaments. The Judo team competed at four different tournaments in march.
11 people travelled to Memphis Tennessee to participate in the Frayser Invitational on March 26, 2011. The team's combined record was 16 wins and 13 loses with 2 first-place medals in the seniors' division and one second place medal in the masters' division. UT also provided two of the referees at the tournament. We would like to thank Greg Bain and Sara Haque for filming and taking pictures of the matches.
The Judo team participated in 3 tournaments over spring break. Greg Bain, John Thompson, and Russell Ragghianti competed in Collegiate Nationals in West Point, NY. They placed 3rd, 4th, and 5th respectively. Jason Rieger, Hatem El Dakhakhni, and Felix Kim played in the state tournament in Spring Hill, TN. Jason placed first in both seniors and masters. Hatem placed first and Felix finished 3rd in seniors. Several members also competed in the Midwest Tournament in Chicago, Il.
The Judo club has two tournaments left this semester. April 9 they will travel to Peachtree City, GA to compete in the semi-annual Ippon Open. On April 16, they travel to Owenton KY to compete in the Rebel Classic.
