To graduate students in STEM disciplines,
 
The PEER program would like to invite all STEM doctoral students to attend our 1st Annual PEER Symposium on April 7th from1-6pm in the Shiloh room of the University Center. Our goal for the Symposium is to provide graduate students with tools for success in graduate school and to offer information and professional development opportunities to help students prepare for future careers.
 
Some features of this event are:
·     Keynote address by Dr. Clifton Poodry, Director of  the Division of  Minority Opportunities in Research at the National Institute of  Health
·     "Successfully Navigating Graduate Life" panel featuring experienced graduate students offering advice for being successful in graduate school
·     "Careers in STEM" panel featuring professionals who have earned their PhD's in STEM fields and have taken various career paths.  Our guests will be Maisha Gray-Diggs: Doctoral Recruiting Manager at Proctor and Gamble; Pat Marstellar: Director of the Emory College Center for Science Education; Louise Hainline: Dean of Research and Graduate Studies at CUNY Brooklyn College; Jason Williams: Staff scientist at the National Institute for Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS); and Leon Duquella: Chemical Engineer at the Dept of Energy (ORNL).
·     Four workshops:  Building a Competitive Resume; How to Fund your Research; Taking Charge of your Research; Building Collaborations and Networking
