FACULTY POSITION. CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY OF AMERICA

Visiting Professor with possibility for tenure-track appointment

 

The School of Library and Information Science (SLIS) of The Catholic University of America invites applications for a visiting professor position that will begin in fall of 2011. We seek an energetic individual with expertise in Digital Preservation, Museum Informatics, Data Visualization and Analysis, or Intelligence Analysis. The position has potential for tenure-track appointment in the future.

 

An earned doctoral degree in library and information science (LIS) or a closely related field is required. Candidates must be able to teach one or more of the SLIS core courses: Organization of Information, Information Sources and Services, Information Systems in Libraries and Information Centers, and Libraries and Information in Society (http://slis.cua.edu/courses/courses.cfm). Candidates should have research or professional experience in their areas of specialization and knowledgeable about trends in their areas. Demonstrated research and teaching abilities are critical, and the ability to teach in blended format is highly desirable. Grant experience is helpful, and the ability to attract grants is highly desirable.

 

The finalist will conduct research, contribute to teaching at SLIS, and develop new program initiatives. The school offers courses in Washington, DC and Virginia. The teaching load is five courses per academic year. Summer teaching is optional.
