The Library & Information Science Program (LIS) in the Morgridge College of Education (MCE) is augmenting its existing strengths by inviting applications for two (2) nine-month, tenure-track faculty appointments at the rank of Assistant Professor. The successful candidates will play a role in teaching, research and service. We are seeking expertise in one or more of the following areas: digital libraries, archives, information retrieval, learning technologies, digital asset management, multimedia information, organization of information, information technology, information systems, and other related areas. 

The successful candidates will need to be comfortable with collaboration in research and teaching projects with other faculty members in the LIS program and MCE. All LIS faculty serve as academic advisers to assigned LIS students. All members of the LIS MCE faculty participate in program and college committees and professional service as appropriate.

*Minimum Qualifications*

•           An earned doctorate by time of hire in library and information science or related area. [Title of “instructor” will be held until degree completion, if necessary.]

•           A demonstrated potential for productive scholarship and teaching.

•           Evidence that the candidate values diversity.

*Preferred Qualifications*

•           Education and experience in information science, library science, computer science, or related area.

•           Experience in information system design and development.

•           Experience in design and delivery of graduate-level courses in the LIS or related   disciplines.

•           Ability to teach in the LIS core (course details available at: http://www.du.edu/education/programs/lis/index.html).

•           Experience in writing grant proposals.

The Master’s of Library and Information Science (MLIS) degree at the University of Denver (DU) is the only ALA-accredited degree granted by a Colorado university. Currently, the program has 150-160 students enrolled. Specialization areas supported by the program include digital collections, archives, early childhood librarianship, law librarianship, school libraries, reference and user services, and special librarianship.
