On behalf of Beverly Simmons Kutz, SIS 2005 James Staub, SIS 2004. Hello Fellow SIS Alumni: This is James Staub and Beverly Simmons Kutz. As the 2009 and 2010 recipients of the SIS Innovator's Alumni Award, we are honored to make this year's call for nominations for the 2011 award. The SIS Innovator's Alumni Award is a prestigious award honoring an alumnus or alumna who graduated from SIS at least two years previously and who demonstrates innovation in the field of library and information sciences through cutting edge activities, forward thinking, leading trends, or reinventing a traditional service. Innovation can show up in many places - in public service, in technology, in teaching, in leadership, and in scholarship. It only requires the willingness to look beyond the "always been this way" to the "what if we ...?" And as James says, innovation should not be a gated community for gadget geeks, but instead a public playground. Innovation is for everyone, every day. Please take a moment to recognize your SIS cohort or co-worker or colleague who has created something wonderful in that playground - or who is committed to inviting other people to play in it.
